IndianOil launches “TB Mukt IndianOil Parivar Program”; Aims to eradicate the threat by 2025
Agartala, 22nd November 2022: SM Vaidya, Chairman of IndianOil on Tuesday launched the ‘TB Mukt IndianOil Parivar’ program which aims to eradicate the menace of TB from the IndianOil family by 2025.
This commitment is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clear call to end TB in India by 2025, five years ahead of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
The announcement was made by Vaidya in the presence of IndianOil’s functional managers at the company’s headquarters on Tuesday. The program will reach nearly 7 lakh of IndianOil stakeholders and family members. Stakeholders include employees, contract workers, service station customer attendants, LPG delivery personnel and tanker crew.
In a press statement issued by the Executive Director (Corporate Communications) of IOCL, Dr. Uttiya Bhattacharya informed that IndianOil will thus implement a Workplace Tuberculosis Elimination Policy in its sites across the country, screening the entire workforce for TB, creating awareness and capacity building of IndianOil in-house physicians and paramedics. This is aimed at accelerating the national TB elimination program. During the event, an application “TB Mukt IndianOil Parivar” was also launched to facilitate the tracking and screening of IndianOil employees.
Speaking on the occasion, SM Vaidya said, “TB remains a public health crisis and a health security threat, and its growing footprint in India is a matter of grave concern. Our Health & Safety and HR teams have developed a plan to achieve the “TB Mukt IndianOil” milestone by reaching out to our stakeholders in phases. IndianOil is a mini-India, with diverse cultural threads and multitudes. Thus, a ‘TB Mukt IndianOil’ will be an important step towards realizing the national aspiration of a TB Mukt Bharat”.
Referring to IndianOil’s crusade against TB beyond the workplace, Mr. Vaidya added, “Under the MoP&NG, IndianOil is also supporting India’s fight against TB through an integrated screening program of the people of Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh. This colossal undertaking is a strong demonstration of our core value of ‘Care’, the driving force behind the IndianOil brand over the past decades.”
Earlier, IndianOil Director (HR) Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra said, “IndianOil has drawn up a detailed program to achieve ‘TB Mukt IndianOil Parivar’. We will work closely with the Central Tuberculosis Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to make every effort to fight the disease.”
This campaign, in addition to raising TB awareness at IndianOil facilities, will also identify high-risk populations, conduct routine screening camps, and support TB treatment while ensuring employability and income for workers. groups concerned. IndianOil will also conduct special training and workshops on TB diagnosis for IndianOil doctors, paramedics and nurses. For smooth implementation, teams will work with district TB officers for orientation, training of industrial staff, and treatment and follow-up of relevant stakeholders.
